Yesterday the State of New York projected a spending deficit of more than $13 billion fueled in part by the shutdown of the state’s economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This could result in a 50% cut to local governments, including our District 16. This is on top of the projected losses at the local level! The result will be a massive property tax increase and/or drastic reductions to school budgets as well as programs such as after school programs, athletic activities, and infrastructure rebuild.

As your Congressman, I will fight to get as much federal monies as possible to assure that the economic damage to our district is minimized. On top of the damage caused by the Trump Administration’s cap on the SALT tax, local governments will have a very difficult time providing essential services that our people need.
